Co-Founder, Adebanke Akinrimisi Passes On

It is with a heavy heart that we notify you of the passing unto glory of our dear director and co-founder Mrs. Adebanke Funsho Akinrimisi on Thursday 11 February 2021. Mrs. Akinrinmisi was a model leader – passionate, determined, focused and diligent goal getter, an astute lawyer who commanded respect from all.

She was an embodiment of empathy, loyalty, support and trust. Totally committed to all she laid her hands upon. Until her passing, she was a Director at CEWHIN. Before co-founding CEWHIN, she worked as program officer (Reproductive Health), at the Empowerment and Research Centre (EMPARC); African Networker with the Women’s Global Network for Reproductive Rights (Amsterdam); Company Secretary, Optimal Strategy Investment Ltd and with the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) as a legal assistant.

She obtained LLB (Hons) from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State in 1986 and BL from the Nigerian Law School, Lagos in 1987. She obtained her Master of Law degree LLM in 2002 from the University of Lagos and Masters in Gender and Development in 2007 from the Institute of Development Studies, University of Sussex, Brighton, UK.

She was a recipient of the MacArthur Foundation Fund for Leadership Development in the year 2000 and executed a research project on socio-cultural economic and legal dimensions to the sexual and reproductive health and rights of female adolescent domestic workers in municipal Lagos. An ardent crusader of gender equality and empowerment of women and girls. She was a member of the Transparency and Accountability Network (TAN) which she played a fundamental role starting. A member of the Feminist group (Womanifesto) and above all an ardent lover of God and Minister at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Garden of Peace, Falolu Parish, Surulere, Lagos.
